Hello everyone, I just picked up a tx2-1020 yesterday and find it to be quite an impressive laptop so far except for the fingerprint scanner and all the bloatware installed on it (but that's a whole other story)!

I guess I must be one of the unlucky (or lucky depending on your point of view) people that can't seem to get the fingerprint scanner to work with my digits. After more than a couple of attempts I am now ready remove all the software from the machine that realtes to fingerprint scanning. The question I have is, does anyone definatively know what software is loaded in order to use the fp scanner? I want to remove all the apps that are loaded realting to the fp scanner...

Yes, All the Digital personal software (thats the software that controls the finger print stuff). If forget the name of the driver, but you can leave it installed w/o any harm, as its the software that adds the functionality.

If you still want to remove the driver, look it up under your device manager and then uninstall the correlating named device/software in your "remove programs"

As a side note, the software version 3.0 that shipped with the unit is PURE CRAP imo... i immediately upgraded to the 4.0 and it started working... correctly.

I cannot log on to my notebook since it will not recognize my fingerprint! Help, I'm going to a conference and I cannot even open the notebook!

@ agillsfo

If your fingerprint reader doesn't work or doesn't recognize your fingerprint, then why don't you use the password you've defined to log in?

Does every HP Laptop give you the opportunity to enter a password instead

yes, you normally have two credentials, password and other methods like face detection or finger print.

Go ahead and uninstall the drivers. But if you want a safe method, use the new Authentec drivers and windows 7. But instead of using Digital persona, use the built in one in windows 7 called truesuite. It is much more responsive especially at startup
