I can watch and easily program my local cable company's HD channels on my large LCD but can't seem to do so on my HP touchsmart.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  I don't have any digital boxes with my cable, just straight digital cable.

to get it over the cabloe you will need a tuner box. You can buy an HD antenna (I bought one at Radio Shack for about 50.00 and it included an amplifer) and get OTA or Over The Air HD broadcasts. I have about 20 HD broadcasters in my area so I get about 10 really good channels and a few marginal ones. Does not include any "premium" content that your local cable provider sells you though.

or as it was mentioned in this forum, buy a sling HD a connect that to your HD cable box, then access the HD and other channels in your touchsmart using the Sling software.

I do the same concept [minus the HD part] using a similar Sling device, the sony locationfree.

So with this sling box, hdhomerun, or sony locationfree boxes you dont even need a TV tuner card??? so the software can pick up all the TV stations over the network from the box which is connected to the Cable company's digital tuner? Well the only reason to have it connected to the Cable company's digital tuner would be to get encrypted channels??

One other question... the Cable company's digital tuner boxes output only one channel at a time... how can this tuner hooked up to one of those boxes (sling box, hdhomerun, or sony locationfree) get all the channels? will it also get premium channels too? I am basically trying to avoid doing the settop box configuration in WMC because of the delay when changing channels.
