yes,if you have cinema zoom on your tv like i have under ratio.i set it to 16 which was max and i got a fullscreen with what looked like no borders.Took me awhile to figure that one out too.
I recently purchased an HDX18t laptop with the partly due to the various reviews saying that while watching Blueray DVD's, the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen would no longer be present as a result of the 16:9 display aspect ratio. Unfortunately, this is not true for all of the Bluerays I've watches thus far. As a solution I wanted to use the included software (Mediasmart version 2.0.1.7) and be able to zoom in to the point where the bars are no longer present.
QUESTION:
Is there a way zoom in while watching a Blueray DVD using Mediasmart? Zoom is one of the most common features found in any DVD player, yet I cannot for the life of me find a way to zoom in/out using HP Mediasmart.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix?

You are aware that they are referring only to 1.85:1 aspect ratio presentations when they make the comment about the 16:9 screen not showing as letterbox?
A good many DVDs are presented in the desired aspect ratio of the film makers, and that can be different, 2.35:1 is the most common.
Personally I prefer seeing the intended presentation of the film, not having it zoomed or cropped to fill every pixel.
