I have a question for you. Why do the laptops not get the full version of the touch software?
Hi there everyone. I'm David, your friendly community moderator and I'd like to take a moment to welcome you to the Touchsmart Community.
It looks like the Touchsmart Tablet discussion is growing rapidly. Back in January our Admin Matt created a specific sub-forum for you guys and gals becasue we saw that there was growing discussion about the Tablet versioin of our beloved IQ series All in Ones. It looks like that discussion is growing every day and thats good.
It kind of caught me by surprise becasue most of my knowlege is related to the IQ series. However, I am a computer enthusiast (among other things) and I'll do my best to try to help you all out as best I can. My primary request is to be patient though as most of us here are owners of the All in Ones, but as things grow, we will learn more and be able to share our experiences with each other.
I think both platforms are great systems and I love "touch" on my computers. I own a TX2500z which is the TX2's little brother and somewhat similar. I have been using Tablet PC's since the very early days so I do have a bit of experience in that arena that I will try to share with you.
One thing I'd like to encourage is your input. If you have a problem and you can't solve it here but find the answer on another site, please share it with us. We have a neat little feature on this site that allows us (members) to mark threads as "Answered".
Hopefully we can grow together as the premier site for Touchsmart answers.
Thanks,
David

Woohoo! I won my Touchsmart!
Since I don't work for HP, I really can't answer that. We do have one HP developer that frequents the site often and he may be able to provide a solid answer.
My thoughts are on the lines of HP is wnating to see which turns out better but I could be wrong. Other thought is the Touchsmart all IQ series is more media centric and home centric while the laptop is more of a portable version.
I'll admit that I have touchsmart running on my Tablet but that is mainly for testing when Im away from home and for answering forum questions.
I do not work for HP so my experience is all hands on, trial and error and lots of reading.
David

The solid answer will have to wait until some unspecified future time, since it would require talking about things that I'm not allowed to share. From a purely technical perspective, the desktop software was not designed with laptops in mind. It requires a certain amount of processing and graphics power resulting in the additional need for a permanent AC power connection.
