I installed the updates and I even tested the email login bit.  When I hit the sync button, it doesn't download anything yet there's plenty of appointments in my google calendar.

Any suggestions on what I need to do to fix it?

Thanks!

Same issue on my end. It would appear that the Touchsmart software creates a Google Calendar but sync is only one way (to Google), not two way (downloads Google Calendars).

Basically this is totally useless. I hope it's a bug that they're planning to fix and not a planned "feature." One way sync is so 2002.

Grrrrr.

Nope. I create my calendars in google and they sync to my touchsmart. Any appointments I create in the TS syncs to google.

Heres what I found. Make sure you are making your appointments in "touchsmart calendar" in your google calendar. My google calendar has two "DaveTN" and "Touchsmart Calendar". Anything I create in DaveTN does not sync.

Right, yes, I understand that the actual Touchsmart Calendar (which the TS software creates) is two-way, but that is still really web 1.0 thinking that it can't also sync your other calendars. That forces you to use your TS calendar as your ONLY calendar, which may work for some, but most people I know who use Google Calendar have multiple cals (some have 10 or more) and I would think that TS developers can figure out how to sync all of the cals. Apple has figured this out, Microsoft has. Third Party providers have too. To make the calendar product so limited basically makes it not usable for me and I imagine a host of others.

Come on TS developers. Web 2.0 is getting old already...

Good point. I used to use Outlook quite a bit. To some extent that was replaced by Windows Live Mail calendar.
Since I use a smartphone it would seem that syncing with outlook is a must but I just have my google calendar text me a reminder.

But, you make a very good point. If it had more features and connected with outlook and such, it would be my "central" touchsmart application.

If you have the HP Touchsmart Calendar app set up to sync with Google Calendar, it is possible to sync it with Outlook 2007. The instructions are here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA101674951033.aspx

Follow the instructions under "Subscribe to your Google Calendar." Though you cannot make any changes to the Calendar in Outlook, you can at least view it within the application. Not sure if it will sync onto a mobile device, however, as it is technically an Internet Calendar....

I have the same issue: I tried to sync w/ google, but Touchsmart just created a new Google calendar for me- useless.

One work-around from within google would be to share my other calendars with the TS cal, with full permissions. Then I could continue using my cals in google & on the TS. I would have clunky inelegant two-way sharing. Right? Kind of a duct-tape solution, but maybe it would work.

To do this I would need the "HP Touchsmart's" email address. What email address does the TS use when it creates its google calendar? Is there a way to share without entering an email address?

Ken,

This is how I have mine setup:

I used my google email address and password of course.  I have the checkbox checked for "use same account information for google calendar sybchronization".

"enable synchronization for: Google and entered the gmail address and password.

Under advanced settings I have smtp provider set as google, smtp.gmail.com and again my username and password.

The port is 587 and "require ssl is checked.

on my gmail calendar account under settings > calendars, I see my regular calendar and "HP Touchsmart Calendar".  "Show in list" is checked.

Hope that helps

Google Cal Sync fixed for me.  I had special characters in my google password.  On a hunch I changed to password without special characters and things appear to be working now.  Fingers crossed.

Thats a good point Ken, I wonder if some of the other users that are having the same problem are using special characters.
Please keep us informed.

Thanks,

David

Well...Its quit working for me.

I wonder if something changed on googles end which causes the problem. Up until a week or so ago, everything was fine.

David, I'm in the same boat. It used to work for me but has quit working within the past few months. Did you figure out a fix yet?
