Believe it or not, I also purchased one of the "No-name" High end USB Graphic adapters...and my story differs...it is called simply a USB 2.0 DVI-I Adapter.
Under that name it says, "USB 2.0 External Graphics Card with DVI Interface".
And it comes with a "Quick Installation Guide" Doing a search for this by the titles I have entered should do the trick, but I want to tell you my story, dumb or not...
I have the IQ816 and ALMOST seamlessly upgraded to Vista ULTIMATE.
The "Almost" is that HP's Touchsmart Photo crashes when I try to run it. It is the ONLY Touchsmart program that crashes however, and I have Acdsee Pro 2.5 for photo viewing / editing.
Yes, I am running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on this awesome machine.
All of my PC's in recent memory have been Multiple Monitor systems.
Either 3 or 4 most of the time. I got this external card to work, and it was a little "Buggy"...Windows on both monitors stopped running Aero for example...
BUT - Even if it worked perfectly, and I mean this, coming from a fan of multiple monitor setups...Running a second monitor on a Touchsmart, especially one of the bigger 26" Screens like my IQ816? It takes away from the "Uniqueness" of this outstanding new technology.
You will likely have to try it to understand.
So I took the new adapter and hooked it up to my Quad core Vista Ultimate 32-bit rig and hooked up a third monitor on that system...
By the way, as far as I have seen? These external cards reproduce the desktop in decent resolutions, etc, but aren't powerful enough to even run the smallest of screensavers...I think they take form your main card is why...has anyone even seen an external that says how much memory is on it?
I hope this rant / discussion has been of some use to somebody / anybody.
I am brand new here.
