Windows Live Messenger will often default to the Avermedia TV Tuner card since it is also a image capturing device, that is probobly why you are only seeing a black screen.
Try changing the input source in the Windows Live Messenger settings.
So I have to click a certain setting or anything? Shouldn't I be able to just accept someones invite to webcam & it shows up? All I get is a black screen...

my web cam has worked before..but i just pluged it in and i cannot find the icon on my msn messenger to send an invite to start veiwing my web cam
