I thoght I'd put this in the OT as it really IS NOT a problem with my touchsmart.

Last night I got a really good laugh.  I was sitting in my chair away from my desk with my TS and listening to some music on my TS.  All of a sudden,IE opens up and web pages start popping up.  I think to myself OH NO!! Conficker!

So anyway, I can hear the touchscreen beeping sound that it makes when yuo touch it and on closer inspection, there was a gnat walking around on my screen.  It would fly off for a second and when it landed, wouldo open up another web page.  All the time being tracked by the little touch circles as it moved about my screen.

After a quick "touch" with my finger the problem was solved and all remains of the technologically advanced gnat were removed from my screen with the HP provided microfiber cloth.

:-)

This is a great story, Dave! It's actually pretty useful advice for people like me. I would immediately freak out and overreact at something like this, not being aware that a bug could actually activate the touch screen... so this is good to know!

Glad you weren't hit by Conficker, too :)

Last saturday had the door open and let in about 10000 of those tiny flying bugs
that are so small they are able to come through a screen. They instantly were attracted to the ceiling lights and you guessed it the Touchsmart screen. You wouldnt beleive how many programs a few dozen of these pesky bugs can open. I had over 15 browsers opened plus nearly every other program I had on my desktop opened. I finally gave up trying to close all of them and hit the power button.

Story of my life! My husband turns off the AC and opens the doors and windows, then bugs invite themselves in my house. I've had to turn off the touch part and just use it like a normal computer (not that I do a whole lot of touching anyway- I bought it for the big screen and compact design). Anyway I turned it back on to show my friends how it works and sure enough... hellooooo little gnat! Thought I'd see if anyone else had this problem and sure enough they do! Nice to know I'm not alone... but I think I'm going to give this gnat his own myspace account so he stops trying to click on people I don't know to add them.

They seem to have a preference for Opera and Google Chrome. I have been dealing with this for a couple of months now. Any new solutions? One little sucker just sent an email from outlook and marked it urgent!

Worse still... mega sized mosquitoes in Iraq attacking my screen at 4am. My roommate thought I was actually up working on my computer for quite a while til he looked over and saw the mosquito's outline highlighted by the light from the screen.
