hello how are you? I'm interesed in purchasing a touchsmart but the iq816t series. I'm a big SIMS fan and i wanted to know will i be able to play that pc game on a touchsmart pc. I don't want to spend over $2000 on something that i cannot totally enjoy to its fullest potential. I also wanted to ask when your playing PC GAMES or Web Browsing does the whole 25.5 inch screen get filled. From videos that I seen I only seen a portion of the screen filled while web browsing and I thought what logical sense would that make for me to buy a 25.5 inch when i'm only going to be able to view about 12 inches of it while browsing etc....

Hi Chey!

You'll easily be able to play The Sims, The Sims 2, and, I'd guess, The Sims 3 when it comes out (the minimum requirements haven't been released yet, but I'd bet it'll work fine). I could even see the touch screen being a benefit in that game, considering how mouse-intensive it is (though hitting the targets with your finger would probably be a bit challenging, since The Sims' interface isn't optimized for touch).

All PC games should take up the full real estate of your screen, so no worries there. You'll get good image quality as well, as the IQ816 supports up to a 1920x1200 resolution.

As far as web browsing goes, your selected browser can take up the entire screen, but most webpages are not designed for a full HD resolution - they will, by default, probably take up about half that space (horizontally speaking). It will still show the full website, just in smaller amount of space. You can, however, increase the size of the text for easier reading. Alternatively, you could lower the resolution on the monitor - that would fill the website up on the screen; however, the image quality will be less in that case (lower resolution means lower quality). Personally, I like browsing in a smaller space as I can open up more windows and view them in their entirety at the same time - you might find that you like it that way as well.

Hope this answers your questions!

Andrew

The Touchscreen can be used just like any other pc, or you can use the HP touchsmart app that adds preprogramed "tiles" they can be moved around and touched to open in a smaller area, But programs including most games can be opened from inside the touchsmart app, Full screen, (minimizes the Touchsmart Aplication ) and opens your Game Full screen. If you have problems using the touchsmart app then just use the PC like any other, except you get to use your finger on the screen. cool, most of the time

I have been looking at the hpIQ816 and I am worried about the fact that they are not the current processors the Core i7. Does it seem to run slow? It seems to start up kinda slow. The touchsmart is just an application, so does if there is a problem with the monitor, would the touch application have anything to do with that? I mean it would be just like any other all-in-one gone bad?

Core i7 is high end gaming and not mainstream processors...yet. The Core 2 Duo is still a very capable and upper end processor that performs quite well. A lot better of course than the single core AMD Athlon 2500+ that I used to have. :-)
Startup is quick and it runs everything I need quite well.
You do not need the touchsmart application for the "touch" to work but you do need the drivers. I'm actually running Win7 on mine right now and love it. Vista performance was quite good too.
