Phantom Mouse Icon - Need to turn off: HP TouchSmart Dev Zone

The phantom mouse icon can be turned off by either clicking on the "touch pointer" icon on your task bar. It sits just to the left of the last icon and looks like a finger clicking on a mouse. Clicking the icon toggles the feature on and off.
Or, you can go into control panel and selecting "pen and input". On the "touch" tab, deselect the checkbox that says "show the touch pointer..."

That should take care of it for you.

Wondering if the other user was able to overcome or if there were any other issues (with Vista perhaps)? Seems the touch tab found under pen & devices on the control panel is grayed out so I can not check or uncheck. Not certain if this is Vista issue or not... I am unable to remove the phantom mouse icon. Microsoft hasn't been able to resolve to-date.
