The white point on TouchSmart 500 screen is way too bright.  I can't find any adjustment buttons to change the calibration.  Does anyone know how to change the white point on my screen?

Many thanks

Jill

The FN+F9 and FN+F10 keys adjust the brightness.

On the same topic, somewhat, any chance anyone knows a thing or two about icc profiles? I'm wondering if the IQ 804 supports icc profiles. I'm guessing by what I've seen that it doesn't which will lead to serious headaches while I try to get it calibrated. I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Thanks!

Hey Target, you're a champ. I couldn't believe that HP would put out a monitor that couldn't be changed.
Many thanks

Ummm, The functions of the keys on Fn F10 and F11 show the functions in monkey language (pictures) right on the keys...

I got to thinking about this post and had to humble myself a little bit. My 70+ year old mother called me yesterday - while I was in the middle of cramming for a major exam - and asked me a simple question about how to copy and paste something she typed in Word into Publisher. I was already frustrated and was a bit short with her and she got upset. The first thing she said was that I was acting the same way may father was...that she should know the simple things about computers. Well, she doesn't, and that is a fact for many that sometimes I fail to realize. What I've learned about computers, I've learned over the last 20+ years and sometimes I take that for granted and "assume" that everyone else should know the basics. The fact is that many people don't and that is the reason I am here...to help.
I told my mom that after my exams were over this week and I graduated (sat) I would come over and spend an entire day with her teaching her the basics of computing. Her first question was "are you going to charge me?" No mom, I'm not. I'm going to give you free help, (like I do here) and be very patient and understanding.

So, to Jilli and Mom (and everyone else), I'm sorry for assuming that you should know everyting and I will do my best to help you and understand your needs better.

Someone once said that "assume makes an ass out of you and me". I think its just me and not "you".

Many thanks for that David. In fact I don't feel too bad. Before I posted my problem in the forum I had phoned the HP helpdesk. Explained my problem to whoever answered the phone, she informed me that a tech person would have to phone me back. The tech would have spent ten minutes with me on the phone and couldn't help.

I couldn't believe HP would put out a screen that couldn't be brightened or darkened so did a search and fortunately came across this site.

Many thanks to everyone
