Rob Bushway at gottabemobile.com wrote a small blog yesterday about his experience and mentioned that while the multitouch (finger) input is good, the pen input still needs refinement.

While its nice to see that n-trig is finally stepping up to the plate, they apparently still have a bit of work to do.

I believe Rob Boshway's review was for the Dell drivers.

I'm using the drivers on my TX2 and inking is really great. The only thing don't like is the fact that only Dual Mode is implemented. I prefer auto mode myself. But maybe they'll update the drivers soon.

Windows his amazing on this laptop. I highly recommend it!

Windows 7 on this machine is incredible!

awesome. been waiting for this driver for a while. You can actually use more then 2 fingers. Try the air hockey game demo from www.identitymine.com You can move both mallets and the puck, same time. Or select a brush in Paintbrush and paint with 5 fingers at the same time. it doesn't really work with more then 5 on my hp-tx2.

Thats correct but the pen/touch digitizer is the same and thats good news for those that own the HP with n-trig.  N-trig has been releasing drivers for both models around the same time so hopefully things will get better for the Tx2 owners.

I'd recommend going to this page first:
http://www.n-trig.com/Content.aspx?Page=Multi_Touch
and reading the release notes before installing Win7 (if you haven't,) and before installing the N-trig drivers. There are still a lot of documented bugs. Palm rejection is supposed to work, but I haven't had very good luck with it so far.

Palm rejection works well for me, but only if I keep the pen within recognition distance of the screen. Once I move the pen too far from the screen my palm is recognized.

should I return this windows ultimate version that i spent $120 more for as Win7 runs better? Or just chill and enjoy?....just askin as many of you hiss at vista but that is what these are shipping with and it doesn't seem so bad except
what. Pleaae advise with your opions on this thank you all.

If you have the ability to return Vista (is the box unopened?) then it might be worth bringing it back.
Be aware that Win 7 RC may not be able to be upgraded (and MS does not recommend upgrading,) to Win 7 final.
I don't have any real issues with Vista. I like it, though UAC is annoying. Win 7 from my short experience with it is also quite good and I haven't seen any stability issues.

I would personally return it and just install Windows 7 Ultimate and use that far free until next year.

I've only been using it for a few days now, but l can't ever imagine going back to Vista on this machine.

Hi Guys.. I finally got round to installing win7 on my TX2 and have to agree it is absolutely brilliant.

Have any of you guys managed to get the finger print login to work? I've managed to install a 64bit version of persona, but it can't recognise the finger print drivers although they show successfully running in the device manager..

I got the fingerprint reader to work for logging on to the computer. Unfortunately, Digitalpersona doesn't recognize the reader.

Uninstall DP, and the Authentec drivers, then install the Authentec windows 7 beta drivers.

Thanks.. could't find the drivers at first, but a quick google and sorted. Installing now..

All a bit odd, that one didn't work and then Windows Update appeared with one. All seems to be working now :)

Microsoft OneNote has gone from great to exceptional on multi-touch :)

I installed Win7 on my TS TX2 1025dx and it is running fantastic. I reinstalled the media smart Menu bar and of course the Ntrig drivers but otherwise everything has been running perfectly. I have not tried everything out yet, but so far I don't think I'll be going back to Vista!

I've installed this driver but somehow the touch functionality works only in the upper half of the screen. what I'm doing wrong?

when I uninstall it, the pen&touch works over all the screen, but single touch only.

oh, and it's not like the finger input is scaled and the mouse moves only on the upper half on the screen, the position recognition is precise but cropped in the upper half.

I did not format my drive, instead I did it as an upgrade. I used the Win7 Ultimate 64Bit Ver.6.1.7100 build 7100. I was unable to load Win7 four different times, my TX2 refused to complete the install, and at one point seemed to install it but at the end rolled my OS back to Vista. My biggest issue seemed to be that the first Win7 disk I burnt was not a very good one. I burnt a second copy using Alcohol 120% at the slowest speed, and apparently that made the difference. Win7 loaded the first time and as I said above, for the most part everything is working properly, as a matter of fact it is working much better. There were several things that didn't seem to work right using Vista Ultimate X64, eg. pinching on the screen to zoom out never worked, since installing Win7 all of the motions work and are much smother, and faster reacting, IMO.

Hi all ^^

I've got a little problem with the latest N Trig Driver for Win7 RC.
The Right Click button on the pen doesn't work at all.
A grey circle appears, but nothing else happens.

Anyone got an idea to solve this ?

(sorry for my english, i'm Belgian. I tried without Google Translator :D)
