Recently, I've been hearing alot of cases with the tx2z where the laptops fail near the one year mark. I have heard this is caused by a defect problem with the laptop where the constant cooling and heating causes internal problems with the laptop.

Since this laptop is a fairly new model, I'm guessing not too many people have had the laptop for over a year. I was just wondering if there is any truth behind these claims?

I don't think the tx2 has been out for a year yet, so that data sounds fishy to me. It's probably a spread of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) going around.

I think that heating and cooling related issues would apply to pretty much any laptop, by the way, not just the tx2.

i had a touchscreen averatec or acer(not sure which one for sure) about three years ago. the thing would get so hot and make so much noise i returned it within two weeks.

now i am trying to figure out if this machine runs fast enough and works in an emulator like parralels but no one wants to try it. thats why i am going to stick with things i have no problem with my imac. sure am glad i made the switch a few years ago. no headaches.

I'm wondering the same thing. I know there's a huge issue with older HP models that had to do with the nVidia graphics chip and a coating that would overheat and fry the motherboard, usually a month or two after the 1-year warranty was up. It's a known issue with both nVidia and HP, but HP is only extending the warranty for a few models, even though it's affecting a larger community. Now, because the tx2z doesn't use nVidia, I'm looking into it to replace my fried tx1219us, but I want to know if there have been any issues with this one, because I'd like a tablet that will last the remainder of my education. Or at least more than a year.

I was reading a review on the tx2z and noticed many users posting complaints about their old tx models failing at the 13 month mark. I was curious about this too, has anyone had this laptop for more than 12 months and if so, has it started to fail in anyway shape or form?

I heard about this rumour too but with older TS Tablet pc. I am glad we have in europe a mandatory 2 years warranty. Besides I do think, if this problem was a concern on the older Tx's, that HP would have think of something to prevent that happening again on the new TX2's. As warranties can consum much time and budget in a larger scale. So does the popularity suffer, which translates in the real economy to less sold units. If I were HP I wouldn't like to risk that and would have do my homework. So I'll stay faithful to HP until I'm proven otherwise. Finger crossed
