Hi,

I just had Windows 7 install on a differrent partition of my hard drive.  Currently, I still have Vista on the original partition.  I am trying to get all the drivers that came with HP through various instruction in the forum.  So far, so good.

My currently problem is DigitalPersona.  I saw a thread for 32-bit, but I have 64-bit.  Do you know where I can get this compatible with my OS?  Is there a way to extract it from my current Vista OS?  When I am running Vista, the program doesn't seem to be running anymore.  I know I did not remove it, but it longer bugs me like before, asking for my fingerprint for almost everything.  Where can I go to change this in Vista since now I have warmed up to what it has to offer.

My second problem is trying to get programs that I had on Vista to 7.  One particular is Cyberlink DVD Suite that came with the new tablet under Vista.  Where can I get this?  Is it somewhere under Vista or perhaps the Recovery partition?

 Please help!

You could do a clean install of 7 RC over vista, unless of coarse for some reason you want vista. Then everything would be there and functioning properly. I switched an dont plan on going back to vista 7 rc is running smooth and fast with no problems to report.

With a clean install over Vista, are you saying that all the programs and drivers remain as you replace Vista with Windows 7?

Any other options? Although I am not a fan of Vista, it is still my back-up until there is an official release of Windows 7. Is there a way to get HP Recovery Manager installed on Windows 7?

All preinstalled software/drivers is included in the c:\swsetup folder. Copy that to your win7 partition, and install what you want. Some of the folders are badly named, but you should be able to figure it out.

Do NOT do a clean install without, a: copying the swsetup folder, or b:leaving the HP recovery partition intact.

On My TX2 with 64bit Windows7 (RC1) DigitalPersona refuses to recognize the AES1610 reader.

I've tried the drivers from HP and from AuthenTec with no change.

Any other advice I can try?

Hey,
Here's the links for Digital Persona (Even though I feel you mightve already found em):

Yeh. Same here.
Had to give up on DigitalPersona on Win7.
The good news is that the AES software works fine on Win7 so I can at least login to windows using fingerprints.

I'm hoping a Win7 compatible version will be released by HP soon as they announced the upgrade to Win7 on the TX2.

Has anyone tried running Digital persona in Vista compatibility mode?

Update: Tried that in Win 7 64 bit... no joy.

I guess the waiting game begins

 DP v4-64-bit-works perfectly under Win7-64-bit:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp43501-44000/sp43883.exe

But you will alsop need this driver: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41771.exe

I am running Win7 64 bit production version (MSDN).
I installed the driver and DP without any issues but... DP still says the fingerprint reader isn't attached.
Any idea how to overcome that?

Windows does see the reader and even lets me login with my fingerprint.

You need the old vista driver for DP to work and the driver's link is already pasted above.

I did use that one. It still claims there's no scanner attached.
Did you do anything on the device manager side?

Very simple and easy.
Microsoft Windows 7 has a automatic update for the drivers. Simply install the driver provided by HP and then uninstall the one already installed by Windows Update. Restart, everything will work

Not working on Win7 64 bit (MSDN version). Tried it.
DigitalPersona fails to recognize the reader.

DigitalPersona works fine, but the problem is the driver that comes with the Windows Update.

The problem is, Microsoft think they are strong enough to intergrade the biometrics into the system and provide the software, but they fail that idea due to the bounded software keep crashing. The driver comes with the windows 7 and it's Windows Update is designed for the program that integrated in the Windows 7.

Okay, I guess it's just a explain. But the biggest part is, Windows 7 do not like user to "update" the driver to a older version, and refuse to install the user determined driver. Even when you are forcing it to, it will tell you that the driver it has is newer and don't want to update. (thinking it's a intelligence? sometimes maybe, but still screw you, Microsoft)

So the only way to roll back the driver is uninstall the newer driver completely. (There's a check mark for uninstall the program comes with the driver, check this.) Then restart. If you have the driver from HP installed, it should be installed automatically. Otherwise, install it.

Dada~~~It Works!

I upgrade from vista ultimate to windows 7 ultimate since then finger reader (digitalpersona) never works again. I unistall the software and remove the biometric (under device manger) and installed the following file names (sp45020/sp43883/sp41771) that HP gave me all didn't work. I called digitalpersona but they are pointing at HP since my finger reader is OEM. What should I do now? Nobody seems to know how to solve the problem. I'm stuck with a laptop with built-in reader that does not work. Shame on HP!!! Does anyone out there knows anything at all?

Uninstall the Authentec drivers in the control pannel, as well as digital persona. Once all of it has been compleatly removed, and you have removed the drivers from the device manager, go ahead and reinstall using the latest Authentic drivers from the HP website, then install digital persona (also from HP website). This should clear up your problem.

The Authentic drivers have issues upgrading sometimes, common issue.
