I have gotten this error message several times. It says COC_RDMI.EXE APPLICATION ERROR. The error message is in a pop up window, and I have to click OK. When I do, my TouchSmart shuts down. I searched to see what CPC_RDMI.EXE is, but I cannot find it. Can someone from HP please tell me what this application does and how I can fix it. Thanks.

Have you tried to update your BIOS recently?
CPC_DMI.EXE (without the "R") is an HP BIOS flash utility program. If for instance, during a BIOS update the power flickered, it is possible that the flash failed and the computer will not boot. Also if you tried to flash the BIOS with one that that was not intended for your model PC, you could possibly get the error.
Finally (for now...until I can find more info), if you have a virus that may be trying to damage or control your computer by changing the BIOS settings, you can get the error message.

Some question:
Are you getting the message when you boot up or when the computer is running windows?

Have you tried to update your bios recently?

Thanks,

David

Thanks so much for your quick answer, Dave. I have not tried to flash the BIOS at all. In fact, I have all automatic updates (HP & Microsoft) turned off, as I operate under the theory - if it is not broken, don't fix it. I know this will get me in trouble in the long run, because I will end up with a boatload of updates that need to be installed. However, at least, I am not getting an automatically installed update that breaks my computer.

I get the CPC_RDMI.EXE Application Error after the computer has been on for awhile. It just pops up.

I do appreciate knowign what CPC_RDMI.EXE runs. I could not find anything out with a Google search. The program was not listed as a threat on Symantec's site. I do have a current version of Norton, and I will run a full virus scan and report the results back here.

Thanks again, Dave. It is very comforting to have you as a resource.

While it went away for awhile, I got the CPC_RDMI.EXE Application Error as I was trying to shut down. I do not believe I have a virus (although I will check again. I wondered if anyone else has seen this error.
