HP's TouchSmart SDK 3.0 for Windows 7 has been helping TouchSmart Developers integrate their applications into the TouchSmart. Not long ago, HP brought their TouchSmart SDK to a new international audience with the TouchSmart SDK 3.0 in Simplified Chinese. Today, HP is expanding their global reach for TouchSmart developmenet with TouchSmart SDK in Japanese, Traditional Chincese, and Korean. HP TouchSmart PCs Now Available Configure to Order

It may not have made the top headlines amid the dozens of announcements HP made during CES, but if you're looking at picking up a TouchSmart PC in the near future, this may be the most important announcement at the show. HP has announced that starting now, along with the latest version of the TouchSmart Software , HP TouchSmart PCs are now available configure to order from the HP store, allowing you to customize a TouchSmart to fit your exact needs with a wide variety of options, including: Blu-Ray drives, processor speed, video card, and hard drive size. Until now, all TouchSmart PC products have been offered as pre-configured SKUs in a few different models, which also meant that certain options, like a Blu-Ray drive in the 22" model, were not possible. The familiar pre-configured models will continue to be sold at retail locations and online for those who do not wish to customize, but some retailers may choose to allow systems to configured and shipped directly to consumers. HP Shows New TouchSmart Software at CES

When you see a TouchSmart PC at a demo station in this year's CES show, it's most likely showing off the beta of Microsoft's next OS, Windows 7. However, some TouchSmarts in the HP booth are showing off a little software of their own - the newest version of the TouchSmart Software. HP's latest TouchSmart Software sports noticeable usability and feature improvements in the Photo, Video, Music, Calendar, and Notes applications. Photo editing, Pandora integration, search, ratings, and tagging are just a small sample of the improvents found. Check out our "Hands On" to see more of the TouchSmart Software. HP has said the new TouchSmart Software will be shipping on new TouchSmart PCs now, and offered as an upgrade to existing TouchSmart PCs in the future, though no exact date was specified. Hands On with HP's TouchSmart Spring Update

HP's outed the next round of updates to the TouchSmart Software suite, the integrated software package combining finger-friendly apps for note taking, music, video, photos, and more, and is showcasing it at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The updated TouchSmart Software is currently shipping on new TouchSmart desktop PCs, and will be offered as an update to existing TouchSmart PCs sometime in the near future. HP's got a plethora of improvements crammed in to the Spring update. While some are smaller improvements, like adding search and print fuctionality to existing apps, others make for big changes that dramatically improve the usefulness of the software. Without further adeiu, here's a sneak peek at what's coming to a TouchSmart near you. Calendar The TouchSmart Calendar app may look similar at first glance, but HP has put significant effort streamining the calendars depth and usability. It's now easier to manage, edit, and track events. You'll also see some improvements in synchronization with Google Calendar, and the handy Sync Now button is certainly a welcome change. In order to install additional TouchSmart applications from the TouchSmart Community, or develop your own, you must be running the latest version of the TouchSmart software on your HP TouchSmart PC. HP Opens Up TouchSmart to Third-Party Developers

HP recently released their TouchSmart Application Developer Guidelines to third party developers, allowing anyone to create touch-friendly applications that integrate and run within the TouchSmart Software suite on the popular HP TouchSmart PCs. As part of the release, HP has gotten behind the Touchsmart Community to distribute the guidelines to developers while providing an environment for TouchSmart developers to interact. Also on the site is a download hub that allows TouchSmart developers to upload and share their creations with TouchSmart owners in a central location. To kick off the new development initiative, the TouchSmart Community is running a promotion that will send one lucky developer (travel expenses paid) to demo their software in the HP booth at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, along with a free TouchSmart PC, HP MediaSmart Server, and a month of promotion in the community. Developers are encouraged to participate by downloading the developer guidelines and creating finger friendly ports of their applications.
