I am currently running W7, and have found that performance degrades in approximately 1-year cycles. This summer, I decided to invest in a solid state 120G SATA 2 drive, which was quite a sacrifice in storage space from my roomy 500G "conventional" notebook drive, itself a replacement from a failed stock drive that shipped with it and lasted a year. I needed to wait for recovery CDs to be shipped from HP (the original failed hard drive took the backups with it), and while I was doing so, I tried installing Ubuntu 11.04 to see what would happen. A reboot later, and I found that the pen, my finger, and the touchpad all worked with zero configuration. For those missing a Windows Journal replacement, there are at least 3 that are out there, but only xournal installed properly using sudo apt-get install xournal It also worked properly. Unfortunately, I cant find the bloody thing anymore. Does anyone know where I can find/order a replacement? Here's why: As you all know our wonderful Tx2s have a tendency to overheat. Well I'm experimenting with a possible solution. I'm putting together a system blower that will fit inside the DVD drive bay and blow cold air through the unit and out the existing exhaust fan. I hoping I can track down one of those false drive plates to attach the blowers guts to; making the the unit a removable plugin drive. Any help is much appreciated. Every so often the screen responds as if a touchscreen event has occurred on the right hand side of the screen. I haven't checked to see if the glitch occurs in tablet mode yet, but will update if it does. It is always in the right hand side of the screen, and it would appear to occur more often the longer the laptop is running between complete shutdowns. I'm running Win 7 64bit and I've tried uninstalling/installing the drivers; however, I'm happy to try it again if someone has a suggestion. This is my last ditch before I try a complete reinstall, so if you have any thoughts they would be much appreciated. I bought a HP TouchSmart IQ700 Desktop PC series and I have had no problems, ocasionally my computer will start up with a black screen and I will restart and everything will be fine, but thats not the problem. I get these red lines and distorted(lack of better word) patches on my screen. I thought it was my video card, so I took it in to best buy where I bought it and they replaced the video card. No the warranty is out and six months later its worse. Now mostly green instead of red and sometimes it is impossible to even do anything.
