tx2 white screen

I have a issue with my laptop. I think it is related to some software thingy as when I start this game, the screen turns white. But it was only recently. Then to get that white screen away, I had to mash the keyboard to get the computer to log off, then it would disappear (the white screen) and return me to the login page. This is a tx2 pc btw. Also now this white screen now also appears when I turn on my computer. I have to force shut down and restart it constantly and somethimes it appears normal then turns white or turns white from the beginning. Sorry if you do not understand what I am trying to say, I am bad in fixing computers D: Also I ran chkdsk and cleared my registry, checking for viruses now. If it fixes the problem I will update this post. :UPDATE: I am using the tx2 notebook now. It works better after I did the CHKDSK, but the whitescreen sometimes still appears when I login. I still need a permenant solution to this problem. Hardware or software problem? Still dunno.

Odd touchscreen behavior

My touchscreen (HP TouchSmart 600) has gone crazy. Without touching anything on screen or keyboard, it toggles between the working window and showing all open windows on the desktop. It's getting almost impossible to work. Of course my warranty and service contract have recently run out, so I'm trying to find a way to resolve this on my own. I rarely use the touchscreen and could live without it if there's a way to turn it off. Or, if someone has an idea of what I might do to make this problem go away, I would be very, very grateful. Thank you in advance. LR
[Read more]

I just filled my TouchSmart 610-1020pl to 16GB of ram and I just started thinkin if this is the max value i can put in ? There are 8GB SO-DIMMS already, so maybe someone already tried to pack more than 16GB (supported by HP) like 24 or even 32GB of ram?

Hi, I was thinking about getting a TS 420t with TV tuner, with the base dual-core processor and 4Gig RAM. Does anyone else use this configuration, and do you find that it works fine for TV viewing and recording with this hardware? Also, do you find that the touch interface works with most software? How about Flash-based games (I expect my kids to play a lot of these). Thanks
[Read more]

1025dx Touch screen works, computer works, display doesn't

I've searched for this issue, but all I can find are references to the other, more "popular" display issues. I don't know if anyone has had this one specifically, since the search results get washed out. When I boot my 1025dx, the computer runs just fine. I can hook it up to an external monitor, and even use the touch screen, but there is no display on the computer. If I reboot many (many!) times, occasionally, I can get the screen to initialize, but from there, if it turns off or reboots, it will go back to not displaying. Oddly enough, I can turn the display off or put it to sleep when it has its rare moments of working properly, and it will come back on, but if it reboots instead of hibernates, it will likely not work again. Other than running my computer 24/7 after a rare successful initialization, does anyone have any solutions? This computer is a long time out of warranty; I stashed it away out of frustration when I first noticed the problem and was told it was two weeks out of warranty last year. I'm just now coming back to it, and trying to...

I have a touchsmart 610-1120 and I'd like to completly turn off the monitor without powering off the PC. I need to work on it from remote and I'd like just to turn off the monitor as if I'd be in front of a normal monitor and I'd push the power button. Not a power off via screen saver because if I work via remote as soon as I move the mouse it'll resume. An hot key sequence or maybe a button (volume buttons?) would resume it. The 1st Drive is designated as none and I have the Multimedia Master CD and the Recovery Disks. It will not get past the DOS setup and then I get the message 'Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Bopot Media in selected Boot device and press a key'. When I enter the Recovery Disk it states 'No hard disk found. System Restore cannot be continued! Press a key to continue'. Can someone please help me fix this problem?
Current Smartouch PC's have a PCI Express MXM 3.0 slot for mobile cards. Is is feasible to install a 3rd party card in this slot providing that it draws less than 35 watts, if the BIOS advanced setup is configured so that Windows Plug and Play (PnP) is selected to configure the system, rather than the BIOS's settings, and the card being installed is not necessary for boot-up? Also, what is the maximum size card which will fit?

Hello, I have a touchscreen HP IQ 504 with Windows 7 (64 bit). Windows 7 was a complete install and not the upgrade from Vista. As such, I do not have any files in recovery sectors (D drive.) I also do not have the recovery disks. I have followed the instruction in the HP forums and on this board and have most of the TouchSmart apps installed. I am still having difficulties with the TouchSmart _Music/Video/Photo. I have downloaded the file - SP44428, which is the application upgrade for MVP. However, when running setup, it will unpack and install, but will not complete. The error is that this software will only install on a HP TouchSmart System. I would appreciate any help. From what I have read, if I had the original MVP file from the recovery disk or recovery partition, than I could make this work. OneHP forum member had upload these files, but they have since been taken down. Thank you.

So like 2 hours ago, I tried replacing my thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5, and tried to get my laptop up and running. It runs well, but then later on when I'm 10 minutes into a game, my laptop's screen would turn black, and I wouldn't be able to see or hear anything, but then the fan is on, and and the lights are on, as if the computer is on. What the heck is this?

Computer Battery

System: Tounchsmart IQ 790.uk Everytime the electric goes off my bios loses the date and time. I'm guessing that the PC has some kind of battery that retains the information in cases of losing its mains supply and mine has obviously expired. Any idea where it is? I'm guessing the motherboard, but where exactly? I live up north and we get a lot of power cuts at this time of year and its becoming a pain! Thanks in advance, David.

Dual SSD and HDD Setup

Have not visited the forum for quite a while. I still have my IQ830 and have been unable to find a worthy replacement for it so far. I recently modded my HP Envy 14 laptop by removing the optical drive and putting my original HDD in there and installing an SSD in place of the HDD. This setup gave me a great performance boost. I have been wondering if any has tried installing an SSD and whether it owuld not be an overkill for an over 2-year old PC with just DDRII, C2D 7450 and 9300GS graphics. Have you guys got any experience? I was also thinking that if it was worth upgrading to an SSD I could also remove the optical drive and put HDD there and keep both? Have you also got experince with replacing the HDD on these? What 3.5" high performance HDD would you reommend if not an SSD? Thanks in advance, Szadzik
[Read more]
