touchsmart 300 2 beeps no video

OK, I had to spend an evening figuring this out, so I figured I'd share and save someone the trouble. I have a touchsmart 300 that would come on, but show no video and beep twice (long beeps I think, same lenght at least) after a while. I removed the memory and got different beeps (1 long 1 short or short long, not sure) so I figured it's not the memory. Found some info online that said something like this: Possible beeps during BIOS update 2 beeps - cd/floppy not found 3 beeps - file not found 4 beeps - somehting 5 beeps - proffit! So I put a cd in the drive, and got 3 beeps.. Found some info online that said it's looking for a BIOS file, named either AMIBOOT.ROM or HPBIOS.ROM So I downloaded the latest BIOS from hp, opened the exe file with 7zip, and extracted the BIOS image (named JESS.12 in my case) I tried putting that on a CD, with the names above, but no luck Ended up putting it on a usb thumb drive (I put it on the drive twice, once named AMIBOOT.ROM and another copy named HPBIOS.ROM, which is why I...

HP TX2 "Ntrig Hardware Not Detected"

I recently sent my laptop for repairs because of the video card problem that many of us suffer from, and then when I got it back, the touch screen doesn't recognize ANY input at all. I tried uninstalling the drivers, which didn't work, so I reinstalled windows and tried to install the drivers again, but it still doesn't work. I disassembled and reassembled my laptop to make sure that the screen was correctly connected to the motherboard, and nothing changed. I noticed that when I checked my computer's System Properties, it states that "No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display." As a result, I think that there's a cable not connected properly in the screen itself. Has anyone tried opening it up to fix this problem? Does anyone have a fix that doesn't involve uninstalling the drivers, disabling and reenabling the windows PC Tablet services?

HP touchsmart IQ830 going black - Help!

Dear community, I recently picked up Guild Wars to start playing it again. I was however unpleasantly suprised by the following: after a few minutes of gaming/letting the game run, the screen goes completely black and the computer won't respond to anything. Also, the sound goes in a loop of ~0,1 sec of the last sound that was made. I have to turn off the computer to restart it else it will stay black. This only happends while gaming, as I have also installed some other games and the same thing happends. However, watching a 1080p movie is done without a problem. I tried so far: -Set the computer back to factory settings -Tried to clean out the dust trough the air holes in the back left corner Im really at the end of my tether. What should I do? I've had a lot of issues with my Touchsmart in the past and I hoped something like this would not occur anymore, alas it did. My warranty has expired. tx2 wont boot no lights.

i am typing onbmy cell, please excuse grammar. i have a tx2 1020 us. i took it apart to clean up the fan and try the penny trick. well when i did i started having restarts, so i took it apart again and undid the penny. i made sure there was pressure and so on. now when i plug in the adapter i get the led around the cable end. if i put in the battery i get the lightening bolt. though when i try to power it on, i will only get the light around the wall wall charger. no fan or caps/num lock blinks. obviously i did something though i have no idea what. any poiters or things to look at/try would be greatly appreciated. i tried the reflow just in case no luck. i did notice the ribbon from the audio jacks to the mobo is beat up though i doubt that would cause this. when i looked over the mobo the dc jack wasnt in bad shape, and nonoticeable damage. i guess the biggest help right now would be is there a cable that could cause this? or even a missimg screw or something. , or...

I have a Touchsmart 300 that I still love using, but lately I've been getting into doing some gaming on it and it just isn't even close to being up to snuff. I had the idea of running a secondary tower, with more memory, hard drives, and a secondary graphics card. Is this something that can be done? I'm not sure how exactly to do it and make everything sync up. Building the tower itself won't be a real problem for me, but I've never tried putting two systems together. How would you guys go about upgrading this computer to be more powerful? I know there's few options in changing out internals. Let me know, because I'd love to still have this as my main pc. But I still want to be able to play some of these games at full spec, the way they're supposed to be experienced.

Hello! I am new to the Touchsmart Forum Threads, but I am having a bit of a problem with my HP laptop. To make the story short, my laptop for some reason turns itself completely off, or the fans begin to run like crazy, when the lid is shut. I'm not sure if it's a heating problem, but I do know that my battery has sort of gone to crap since I always leave it plugged in (oops!). I would love to hear what I can do to fix this problem, because it sometimes happens in the middle of the night and the fans from the laptop actually wake me and is beginning to worry me.
